Standard warning clothing previously used in professional and non-professional practice, in the absence of directional lighting, does not ensure visibility of its user. A factor that can improve the protective properties of warning clothing may be retrofitting it with direct light sources that emit visible radiation. Clothing products equipped with various types of light sources have started to appear on the market for several years, but so far there are no standardized testing methods and requirements for this type of clothing. To create the possibility of assessing such clothing, photometric and functional tests of model clothing solutions with high visibility were carried out with the application of lighting elements. Based on the analysis of the results obtained, a basic classification of this type of clothing was proposed in terms of the minimum luminance requirements of the light emitted from it, as well as criteria for its assessment.
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of reflective accessories in real conditions of use based on the results of own research (18)
The article presents the results of testing the photometric properties of selected reflective accessories made using the standard method described in PN-EN 13356: 2004 and a method simulating the realistic way of mounting and using reflective accessories. For this purpose, the standard goniometer was replaced by a half-mannequin. the obtained test results allowed verification of the effectiveness of reflective accessories in conditions simulating their use when attached to clothing. The article also discusses restrictions on the use of these accessories, recommendations regarding the minimum area and how to attach them to clothing in order to achieve adequate visibility.
