• Preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in selected mines
Since 2020, when the first cases of SARS-CoV-2 were recorded in Europe, it was known that the virus would spread the fastest in large population centers. This is what mining plants are like, where many employees work together in a small area. The article presents how selected mining plants in Silesia coped with the increasing incidence of COVID-19 among their employees and what improvements they introduced to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • People driving mining shaft hoists constituting permanent transport devices in the aspect of applicable regulations
The mining law of 1930 gave higher mining offices the power to issue detailed regulations, and on this basis, in 1947, the president of the WUG in Katowice issued the "Shaft Driving Regulations", comprehensively, for the first time in the Polish mining industry, the requirements for passenger transport mining shaft hoists. Despite the passage of time, most of these requirements remain valid and are reflected in today's regulations. The applicable legal regulations cover four areas: technical requirements for the design and construction of mining shaft hoists, rules for the safe use of hoists, control and supervision over their operation, and requirements to be met by persons responsible for the operation of mining shaft hoists. The article discusses them against the background of changes that have taken place in the mining law in the period from Poland regaining independence to the present day.
