• The contemporary phenomenon of the global labor market - employment platform (1-7)
    The provision of services consisting in the performance of work as part of employment platforms is one of the most evolving phenomena in the global labor market. The legal status of employees is not legally regulated. It is related to m.in. with the fact that some of the employed started to provide services as part of the implementation of the idea of "economy of sharing goods". Participants in legal transactions with the participation of platforms are in most cases considered self-employed. Therefore, they do not enjoy any employee and social rights. The Member States of the European Union, with only a few exceptions, do not take action to regulate the legal situation of those employed in the framework of the platforms. The declaration made in 2016 on the initiative of trade unions aims to recognize employees who work under the platform as a subordinate employee.
  • Evaluation of investment social policy programs on the example of the government program for social activity of older people (8-14)
    The aim of the article is to analyze the importance of evaluation of investment social programs to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of its implementation, on the example of the Governmental Program for Social Activity of the Elderly of ASOS. The first part describes the theoretical and model basics of evaluation. The investment nature of the ASOS program and a critical analysis of the conducted evaluations from the model implementation perspective have been presented, ie since 2012. Next, the conditions for conducting reliable evaluation studies of investment social programs related to the implementation of different types of evaluation in the research process have been indicated, among others assessment of the needs of the target group of the program, the process of intervention implementation and the impact of the analyzed program not only on its direct beneficiaries, but also on the broadly understood social environment and assessment of the economic impact of program implementation. The authors recommend the implementation of quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as conducting evaluation studies of the results of investment programs in the long-term perspective. The article, apart from a critical analysis of the literature on the subject on the evaluation of public policies, presents the results of research carried out as part of the Innovative Social Investment Strengthening Communities in Europe project financed from the Horizon 2020 program.
  • Entrepreneurship as a factor conducive to a successful entry into the labor market. Example of students at the University of Rzeszów (15-20)
    The article is devoted to the subject of entrepreneurship of students of the University of Rzeszów and its impact on their better start on the labor market. The aim of the text is to show students' opinions on entrepreneurship and the possibilities of its use on the labor market, also in the field of starting a business. The following research methods were used in the article: desk research method and diagnostic survey method. In the opinion of respondents (UR students) shaping entrepreneurship during studies has a significant impact on their personal development as well as a better start in their professional career. The analysis of research results indicated the need to engage students in additional forms of activity in order to build entrepreneurial attitudes and to educate young people in the scope of development opportunities offered to them.
  • Sociological insight into the service of women in the Polish police (20-28)
    The police is the largest institution of internal security in Poland. Despite nominal equality, the participation of women in the group of officers is lower than men, and gender diversity is even more visible in the case of first-class management positions. The very presence of women in the police, the possession of specific statuses and the fulfillment of various professional roles by them are important from the perspective of women's vocational activation, ensuring the police human resources, equality and equal status of both sexes. The starting point of the article is the approximation of the police as a security institution "hiring" the staff for fulfilling specific functions, offering in return for the service specific tangible and intangible equivalents. On the basis of normative solutions and existing secondary data, an attempt was made to identify factors that may turn out to be beneficial when choosing a police career path for women, as well as a reference to various dysfunctions that work-service in uniform brings.
  • Age of the unemployed as a factor differentiating readiness to work and participation in activities related to professional activation (29-34)
    The article presents partial results of empirical research on the problem of generational differences in the number of unemployed people. It was analyzed in which the age of the unemployed will affect the activity during job seeking and the willingness to participate in the various activating activities offered by the pub- lic employment services. By taking into account the principle of representativeness, the formulated conclusions from the research can be extrapolated to the wider population of the unemployed. The analysis of the collected research material clearly showed that the older the age of the unemployed, the lower the level of activity in the search for a job and in the scope of willingness to participate in activities related to vocational activation offered by public employment services. The article also presents the expectations of people who are unemployed towards employers in terms of pay and working conditions, also taking into account the generational diversity of respondents. Knowledge of these expectations and their inclusion in the policy of activating human resources should affect the increase in professional activity rates.
  • Social minimum in September and December 2018 (35-37)
    The article presents estimates of the subsistence minimum for the conditions from September and December 2018 against the background of basic external factors. In September, compared to the previous survey in June, in the conditions of price stagnation, the value of the social minimum decreased: in a family of 2 children by 1.6%, and in a single-person household by 1.2%. In the study of December 2018, with low inflation, the value of baskets also increased modestly: from + 0.3% in a family with a younger child to + 0.8% in two-person households without children. The main factor of changes in the value of baskets were seasonal changes in food prices.
  • Minimum subsistence and minimum subsistence in 2018 estimates based on annual average price quotations (37-39)
    The article presents estimates of subsistence minimum and subsistence minimum on the basis of average yearly prices in 2018. The minimum subsistence rate is determined by a model method of satisfying needs at a minimum level below which there is a biological threat to life. In turn, the social minimum presents the model costs of maintaining households, which are beginning to be threatened by the sphere of deprivation. Between these two extremes, there is a sphere of scarcity in various aspects.
