• Amendment to the Act on technical supervision. Much more security and logic, less formalities and costs
Just one year after the previous - adopted in August 2017 - another amendment to the Act on technical supervision was sent to the parliament. The project, prepared last year by the then Ministry of Development, and substantively elaborated by the Office of Technical Inspection, was on September 5, 2018, received by the Council of Ministers and addressed to the Parliament.
  • Technical equipment on construction sites - operational safety
Performing work on a construction site, in conditions usually deviating from the workshop, predictable, is determined by the influence of weather (rainfall, snow or excessive sun), terrain conditions hindering movement and the necessity of moving technical devices as construction works progress. Transport of building materials or constructions, often temporary roads, water supply and auxiliary materials, is a nuisance subject to intensity when the density of personnel increases or when it is necessary to move on different floors. This creates a considerable risk of accidents. Fatigue and the multitude of things happening at the construction site divert attention from the continuous monitoring of the proper condition of the operated equipment. That is why the systematic solution to the problem of using technical devices is extremely important. One of the basic stages of the proper organization of construction and assembly works is the development of a list of devices needed on the construction site, identification of possible hazards and legal requirements for ensuring their safe operation.
  • Amusement parks. Turn around safely
Hot summer forced to stay in the open air, not only on the water. Children with their parents willingly spent time in funfairs. The announcement of the warm autumn will probably prolong the season for such fun. However, can you safely use the carousel, Ferris wheel mills and other such attractions?
  • Threats for substitute determination of fastener strength based on hardness measurement
The article describes the inaccuracies in substitute determination of the strength of fasteners (bolts) of large diameter, when measured on the side surface. Hardness measurement is a good reflection of strength for many steels. However, the method can be ambiguous, especially when the elements to be tested are large and, therefore, their structure can be varied.
  • Non-destructive testing of composite materials. Terahertz camera and active thermography method
The article presents the problems related to the detection of defects in the form of water inside the core cells in "sandwich" composites and inclusions of foreign materials. As part of the article, tests were carried out using the C-CheckIR active thermography system and the TeraSense terraheres camera. Tested samples in which defects were simulated were made of glass and carbon fiber.
