    Since February 24, 2022, when the hostilities began across our eastern border, many Ukrainian breeders found refuge in Poland from Russian aggression. They are mainly women with young children, but also the elderly and people with disabilities. Persons from the latter group are completely unfit for military service, but this does not mean that they are unfit for work. Polish companies that decide to employ an employee with disabilities from Ukraine can count on financial support under several aid programs.

    Improving the working conditions and health of employees requires many interdisciplinary actions, both at the level of legal solutions on an international and national scale, as well as practical actions in the industry or a single enterprise. This is the goal of the Health and Safety Experts Network certified by the Central Institute for Labor Protection - National Research Institute, which includes people supporting companies in the field of OHS, sharing their knowledge and experience with them.

    The pace of evolution of the working environment is increasing - also in terms of forms of employment. These changes make the modern definition of "work" more and more different from the traditional one. The article discusses various concepts of new forms of work, their occurrence in the Polish labor market and possible effects in the context of psychosocial working conditions, on the health and well-being of working people.
  • Limiting the load on the musculoskeletal system of people who inspect hand-held fire extinguishers (15)
    The main purpose of having fire-fighting equipment is to be able to use it whenever and wherever it is needed, which is associated with the necessity to keep it in perfect technical condition at all times. Proper inspection of this equipment consists of several activities and requires, among others lifting fire extinguishers weighing from a few to several kilograms. Until now, the person performing the inspection had to lift the extinguisher from the ground, then raise it to head height and turn it in such a way as to be able to check that the extinguisher is undamaged. This requires the use of considerable physical force and strains the employee's spine, thus reducing the efficiency and accuracy of measurements while performing this task.
  • Research on the impact of technologically advanced protective clothing on the psychophysical state of a human (20)
    Integration of microelectronics and electronics worn with personal protective equipment, including protective clothing, on the one hand makes it possible to obtain completely new functions of these measures, but on the other hand, their inappropriate design may be a potential source of danger for the user, e.g. by causing an excessive psychophysical burden. For this reason, it is necessary to test protective clothing equipped with worn electronics in terms of its impact on the psychological burden of a human being.

    Over the last two years, we have faced the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, but despite our face masks and keeping our physical distance, we tried to live and work as before. Unfortunately, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has not yet been eliminated, so we are getting used to living in its shadow and modifying our behavior - also at work. The analysis of the results of the market research on personal protective equipment and medical masks allows to determine how the approach of enterprises to the issue of employee protection has changed after the outbreak of the pandemic.
