Firefighters work in extreme environmental conditions, and have to solve a wide variety of problems while working. These can be rescue, extinguishing operations or removing the consequences of accidents and natural disasters. In order to protect not only others, but also themselves, they must be focused as much as possible in order to avoid mistakes. Optimal conditions for such work would create so-called thermal comfort, characterized by the thermoneutral state of the body. Lack of thermal comfort can also cause an increased number of mistakes. That is why it is so important to choose the right protection and to examine the impact of the protective clothing (special clothing) on the thermal sensations of firemen. The article presents the requirements for special clothing for firefighters, the results of thermal insulation tests of this clothing and the analysis of thermal sensations (through the PMV indicator) of its users.

Human capital expressed through the level of education, as well as characterized by the general competences possessed, is one of the main factors affecting the professional activity of people of working age, especially in the group of older people. In the case of older people, it also helps to eliminate age-related stereotypes, eliminates social marginalization of this group, positively affects self-esteem and enables the creation of new social contacts. This article presents the opinions of 50+ employees on learning. 208 people aged 50+ were employed in large, small and medium enterprises, both private and public. The surveyed older workers mostly (86%) believe that training is important at any age. Most of these people want to train (69%), and the main motives to undertake training are the desire to acquire new qualifications, develop interests and financial issues.
  • Mobile work based on information and communication technologies - new challenges and threats (22)
The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in many areas of the economy brings many benefits: the emergence of new professions and the development of new service areas, as well as new forms of employment (e.g. mobile work), increased flexibility and autonomy at work, promotes the ability to work, high efficiency and innovation of employees, which affects the effectiveness of the company. However, the use of ICT increases work requirements, work overload, role conflict, constant learning necessity, blurring work-life boundaries, promotes professional and social isolation, professional burnout, addiction to the Internet and others. Therefore, it is necessary to take preventive measures: conducting periodic assessment of the work environment and its impact on the functioning of employees, allowing for the introduction of appropriate modifications.
