• Healing waters of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine. Five years of experience in extracting and applying in spa treatment
In 2013, the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine obtained a certificate from the National Institute of Public Health - National Institute of Hygiene, confirming the healing properties of water from the W-VII-16 outflow. After the proper documentation was prepared and a mining license was obtained, the "Wieliczka" Health Resort was established. It exploits healing water, which is 6.9%. sodium chloride brine with total mineralization of approx. 65 g/dm3. The healing water comes from the deposit found in the Miocene formations of the Chodenice Strata (the Machów Formation). The annual extraction of the mineral is about 1500 m3, and the main direction of its use is the supply of the graduation tower and treatments such as ultrasonic pneumatic aerosol therapy and AMSA, which the health resort performs in total up to about 3 thousand. annually. Healing water from the outflow of W-VII-16 and the microclimate of mine workings are used in the treatment of chronic diseases of the respiratory system. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is expected that the demand for pulmonary rehabilitation treatments will increase, and thus there is a possibility of developing this area of rehabilitation at the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine Health Resort.
  • The influence of moisture content in coal on the process of its self-heating in hard coal seams on the example of the Libyan and Laziska layers in the eastern part of the GZW
The hard coal beds of the Libyan and Laziska layers in the eastern part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (GZW) are characterized by a high propensity to self-ignition with relatively high humidity. The article presents an attempt to explain this issue in the aspect of generally available data published in the field of coal research, taking into account the moisture content in coal and other theories and hypotheses concerning the propensity of coal to spontaneous combustion.
  • Exercises in the evacuation of people from the immobilized cage vessel of the mining shaft in KGHM Polska Miedź "Polkowice-Sieroszowice" (Communication)
The announcement describes the method of evacuating people from the immobilized cage vessel of the mining shaft hoist in the ZG "Polkowice-Sieroszowice" shaft, used for transporting materials and carrying out inspections and repairs of the shaft. The evacuation was carried out using a mobile emergency and inspection lift, operated at the "Polkowice-Sieroszowice" mine. The exercises in evacuating people from the immobilized haul-off vessel were aimed at over-training the quick use of the pulley and drawing conclusions on the modification of evacuation procedures. The exercises confirmed that the organizational and technical solution applied ensured a high level of safety, and the evacuation time was within the 10 hours required by the regulations.
