• The main causes of the loss of stability of a longwall work
The paper presents selected causes of difficulties in maintaining the stability of longwall excavations. These reasons, determined on the basis of underground observations in the walls in which there were peaks and / or floods of roof rocks, were divided into four groups. The first one is independent of the user and is associated with the incorrect construction of the powered roof support. The second group is associated with the incorrect selection of sections to specific geological and mining conditions, i.e. too low initial and / or working resistance of the section. The third group is associated with failures (damage to components), the fourth group is associated with improper use (use) of powered roof supports.
  • The advantages and safety of using Top Drive head drives in modern drilling
The article presents selected issues related to the use of the Top Drive device during drilling works, in the aspect of benefits and advantages resulting from its use, as well as the impact on the improvement of drills' work conditions, resulting in a reduction of accidental events in progress performing geological works related to exploration for oil and gas.
  • Motivation of mining personnel to work in emergency services
The paper presents the results of research on the motivation system for working in the rescue of hard coal mines. Based on them, it is possible to characterize mining rescuers as a group of employees performing tasks that are, beside their daily professional duties, an additional and permanent element of their professional work. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of research on the motivational system may significantly affect the undertaking of work in emergency services.
  • Protection of therapeutic water deposits in spatial development of mining areas
The overriding social goal in the development of spa areas should be to preserve the resources of curative waters and ensure their protection against the negative impact of human beings. The need to ensure the protection of therapeutic water deposits requires the cooperation of mining supervision authorities, geological administration and spa communes, as well as entrepreneurs holding a license for their exploitation, mining geologists and managers of spa mining plants. Thanks to this cooperation, it is possible to define the necessary actions to protect: exploitation depots, supply zones and resource zones, as well as to define a catalog of activities that should be banned or limited in the application of therapeutic waters in the areas.
